The U.S. health care system that we have right now made it possible for those who could not necessarily afford health care to still be eligible to access care. Now, they are given access to primary, secondary and tertiary care. Not all people with health conditions can afford to be sick and sometimes, because of poverty, socioeconomic status along with other factors, they would rather spend the little money they have on other necessities that they need for everyday living and having the affordable care act really helped a lot of these families take the burden off their back. Part of the Obama care is giving “over half of uninsured Americans can get free or low cost health insurance, and some can get help on out-of-pocket costs using their state’s Health Insurance Marketplace (ObamaCare).” In addition to this, it has protections that “ensure that you can’t be dropped from coverage when you get sick or make an honest mistake on your application” or deny coverage or treatment for being more sick. With all these benefits, there are also cons to the Obama care. To get money for all of these, new taxes are added to those who earn more depending on their income. Furthermore, those who can afford health insurance are required to pay a fee which creates complications with filing taxes. Because of all these “coverage options also, by nature, create a tiered healthcare system where more money equates to a better quality of care (ObamaCare).” This makes everything very unfair for those who can afford health insurance. These are just some pros and cons of the U.S. healthcare system. There is always going to be issues that are both good and bad and there is always room for improvement but the system that we have today did give a lot of help to those who need it the most.
