Week 5 Discussion 1

Embedded SQL

Embedded SQL often relies on views. Please respond to the following in not more than 250 words:

• ·         Give a realistic example of an application that would use embedded SQL. Do not repeat an example from the textbook or one that has been posted by another student.
• ·         Explain one reliability or security issue that could arise if the application contained inadvertent or deliberate miscoding.

Then, in separate posts, follow up to one or more of your fellow students in substantive posts of up to 200 words that further the discussion. For example, you may support or politely challenge a post with your own insights or experience, make a suggestion, or ask probing follow-up questions.

The textbook describes several types of joins (cross, natural, etc.) and various types of subqueries (IN, HAVING, etc.). Please respond to the following in not more than 200 words:

• ·         Select one type, and propose a query that would need that mechanism. Do not repeat an example from the textbook or one that has been posted by another student.
• ·         What business purpose would this query support?
