Individual Report (10%)Aim:This task is designed to expand your knowledge in the areas of advanced materials and processes by performing a literature search on one of a number of topics. At the completion of this task, you will have gained knowledge on the “state-of-the-art” in your selected topic.Instructions:Select one of the following topics and undertake a literature review.1. Materials harder than diamond2. Low thermal expansion materials3. Ultra-light weight insulator materials4. Ultra-light weight conducting materials5. Ultra-light weight cellular materials6. Lattice materials7. Ultra-light weight composites8. Hierarchical materials9. Man-made materials designed to mimic natural materials10. Man-made spider silk alternativesGuidelines:▪ Must use three (3) sources that are submitted with the report.▪ Sources must be journal articles from the peer review literature; i.e., use Scopus or Web of Science. No books, no websites.SCOPUS (Elsevier) Please use Chrome or Firefox.Web of Science (ISI)For further information, visit the library webpage for help▪ Summarise findings, include;MaterialsTesting methodsWhat engineering data was extracted from the testsHow does this material compare to those currently in use, i.e., standard materials? How and where could this material be applied (your own thought or assumptions)Submission:The following must be submitted:1. Written report together with the 3 journal articles. (8% of mark)2. PowerPoint presentation slides (2 slides) (2% or mark)Due Date: Wednesday, 27 March 2019Page 3 of 4Report and slides must be submitted as both hard copies at the beginning of the workshop on the 27th March AND via the links provided in the LMS. There will be individual submission links for the report, the 3 manuscripts and the PPT slides. Failure to submit either will result in lost marks. Do not email your submissions to the lecturer or workshop coordinator. Make sure you leave sufficient time to upload your report to the LMS. It is your responsibility to ensure an on-time submission, any piece of work submitted after the due date will be marked accordingly.Layout and requirements:The report can be laid out as follows:▪ Font can be Times New Roman or Calibri.▪ Use spell check and read your assignment before submitting.▪ Reference figures and other sources of information. Use a referencing tool such as Zotero https://www.zotero.org/▪ Use the numeric IEEE style type.▪ MAX 1250 words! Be concise! To ensure your submission fits the page/word count ranges, make certain to count words in the body using your word processor and then add in the equivalent word counts for your tables and images. References and appendix do not count towards the word count. Figures and tables are counted by the amount of words they replace. A good rule of thumb is 150 words per image (picture, graph, spectrum, etc.). Figures with two images (e.g. 1A and 1B) are counted as 300 words. Three images amount to 450 words and so on. Brief tables are counted as 150 words each, while longer or wider tables can be up to one full page (500 words). Make sure you include only highly relevant images and remove non-essential images to help your report be more reader-friendly while fitting within the page/word limits. Images without a description in the text will incur a penalty during marking.Use 1.5 line-spacing and font size 12 in the body of the report, with section headings and titles in bold and/or larger font. Single spacing can be used for references, footnotes and appendices. The body of your report should contain the following sections:• Title, i.e., the topic you have selected• Your first and last (given and family) name, student number and e-mail address• Introduction• Body• Conclusions• Acknowledgements (if any)• References• Appendix (if any)Systéme International (SI) units are to be used. Non-SI measurements can be included, but they should follow the SI measurement in parentheses. An example is 2.54 cm (1.00 inch).Due Date: Wednesday, 27 March 2019Page 4 of 4The oral presentation will be assessed by submitting two (2) PowerPoint slides that highlight the key aspects of your findings. Do not include an introduction and conclusion slide, simply make sure each slide has a title as well as your name
