The aim of placing the photo at the middle of the page was to capture the attention of those interested in sports. At the bottom of the front page is a section that has been separated from the other front page stories. This section gives the reader a preview of stories in the different segments of the newspaper.

Throughout the front page stories have been separated from each other by the use of lines. There is use of font to show the difference between the headline (the most important story of the day) and the subheads (other important stories). The headline is in bold capital letters this shows it is an important story even though it has not been given much space on the front page (Bednarek 85). The subheads are smaller and italicized. The font size and type used for article writing is the same throughout the front page.

The front page can be described to be having medium grey space. There is a combination of short and long articles. The front page can also be said to be having a medium or average graphics to text ratio. The blend between the graphics and text seems to the just right. There is none that is greater than the other.

The newspaper intends to have a broad readership from this front page analysis. The front page does not appear too serious yet it is serious.
