As a result of these issues, the challenges facing immigrants increase. Various authors identify the challenges facing immigrants in USA.

Bloemraad et al (n.d.) suggest that the 2006 immigrant protests challenged political engagements because they were not conducted in a proper manner. They suggest that the protests occurred spontaneously without the knowledge of like the church and the media. The effect was that the protests attracted calls for legislative action against immigrants. Therefore, it encouraged deportations and denial of America’s basic rights. These are key challenges to the lives of unauthorized immigrants who lack good means of earning a living in their home countries. Bloemraad et al (n.d.) argue that unauthorized and legal immigrants faced the biggest threat of repression ever seen in social movements. They also suggest that deportation of immigrants is a big challenge because it denies immigrants the opportunity to interact with their families and earn a living. The cost of the protests was permanent exclusion from America for some of them. and this contributed great challenges to the lives of victims.
