The lion is described as a kind and merciful animal simply because it does not attack humans when they are not trying to kill it. The author states that a lion does not attack women and children since it considers them as harmless and peaceful (Isidorus, Barney & Hall, 2006). The essence that the lion roars will cause fear and trembles to all who hear it is used sarcastically in the article as it wakes the cubs three days after they are born. The roar does not frighten small animals like spitting snakes that the lion hates since they can easily kill it. These relationship and features of the lion are essential to the author since he uses it to connect or relate it to Jesus thus making the article have a spiritual background (O'Connor, 2013). The article also tries to prove the relationship between a lion and other beasts including tigers, leopards and panders for their use of strength and use of paws to kill. The heartedness of the lion makes it different from these beasts. Representation of the lion’s image The lion’s image in the article represents the spiritual nature of Jesus who is termed as the lion of Judah. The use of the tail by the lion to hind its trails from the hunters represents the act of Jesus to find his trail by being born in a poor family that made it hard for people to identify He is the son of God (O'Connor, 2013).
