The primary food products include potatoes, rice soya beans, maize, barley and wheat. On the other hand, the main sources of meat to the Ukrainian folks are chicken, beef, horse, rabbit and pork. Pork is highly consumed as it is regarded as the stable food.

Ukraine is a powerhouse in agricultural exports as it exports the highest amount of the two products as compared to other nations. This has made the Ukraine value to climb up as from the year 2002. The significance of agricultural production was witnessed from 2002 to 2005 when the revenue rose from $4.3 billion to $17.9 billion respectively (Frank 501). Furthermore, agricultural production in Ukraine has registered a significant increase in the recent past due to the farmers’ upgrade of both the management and agronomic knowledge. The rapid transition from traditional farming to modern farming significantly improves agricultural production. It is believed that Ukrainian agriculture will gradually regain its initial position of leading exporter of agricultural products in Europe.

Although the Ukraine Agriculture flourishes, the level of production is not satisfactory. The Agriculture sector is faced by a myriad of challenges. The challenges range from endogenous factors to exogenous factors. The endogenous factors mainly involve the farmer’s management and agronomic skills. The farmers may be lacking management skills and financial skills. He or she therefore, cannot keep proper records. These poor management skills have devastating effects in the status of farming. Poor agricultural results would be registered. On the other hand, lack of agronomic skills lead to poor or improper use of inputs. This in turn will result in poor yields. When farmers do not apply the recommended quantity of fertilizers in their fields, the yields would be poor. The exogenous factors also affect agricultural production in Ukraine.
