Hi, need to submit a 750 words essay on the topic Informative about Forks.

It is very surprising that we humans are still in the process of learning how to utilize this modern eating utensil. To my utter surprise it is also said that the way we use a fork can also tell a lot about our personality and major concerns of life such as religion, manliness, inner traits etc. Knives and spoons are the initial form of eating utensils. Knives that resembled hand held axe were used in olden times to scrape off meat whereas spoons were used to dig in liquids. The first use of forks is seen during the Greek empire that used large forks to take food out of the big boiling pots. It should be noted here that in the Greek empire the use of fork was limited and it did not make its way to their dining table and mostly people preferred to use their hands, spoons or knives. The reason why forks were not used by the people was because of the shape it had and the name it bore. A fork resembles a devils pitchfork from which it also derived its name. The association of the fork with the devil has bought a sense of hatred amongst the people. A Venetian princess used to use forks to eat as she didn’t like to eat through her hands. When the princess died plague many people considered it to be a reprimand by the almighty for her act of arrogance. Such myths were always associated with the use of forks in olden times. During the middle ages the trend changed when from Byzantine the use of cutlery travelled to France. In France there was a monarch who had a brutal image amongst the people. She was fond of food therefore arranged such gatherings where food was always under the limelight. In these gatherings spoons and knives were used for the feast but at some occasions forks were also used to have sweets. Such occasions were quite seldom. At this point also the forks were still linked to evil conspiracies. Another myth states that there was a population who were known for their deceit, fraud, sinister characteristics that ate with forks. They used to waste more food than they used to consume. Apart from this British sailor also preferred eating with hands than forks as it was thought to be very unmanly. (Hayward, 1956) It should be noted here that initially a set of silverware was limited to the elites or the nobles as it was a source of high extravagant lifestyle and those who possessed it would carry on their waist to prove their nobility. With the passage of time people started to buy the silverware set for their homes when the concept of fine dining becomes more homely. It was during this time when fork with three or four points were made. Now the use of fork became more acceptable but they were still not accepted globally. With time criticism was reserved to those who did not use forks correctly. With the passage of time the habit of using forks in everyday life became quite popular and now forks are an important part of many societies. Many individuals now give precedence to eating with fork than spoons. It is one of the most important utensil when it comes to fine dining. A lot of people still are learning how to use forks in everyday life. It is now a symbol and epitome of grace, dignity and pride. Thus, “Cutlery itself is an&nbsp.important field for class discourse.
