Hi, need to submit a 750 words essay on the topic Questions about the movie "Of Two Minds (2012) ".

Schizophrenia is a mental illness where the affected individual does not interpret reality as it is and feels that everyone is out to get them. The affected fails to differentiate what is real and what they have formed in their minds. The causes of schizophrenia are said to be in the genes and the environment. It can be inherited from one family member to another and can also be caused by the social, physical and emotional environment one lives in. There is no known cure for the illness, and patients are given drugs to cope with the symptoms of the disease rather than cure the disease. Most of them require all round care as they may either cause harm to themselves and other individuals in the society. Taking care of a schizophrenic person requires some skill and patience hence most families tend to confine them to mental institutions.

Symptoms of schizophrenia include hearing voices in their heads hence they are unable to make sound decisions and choices. They also tend to believe that other people are out to cause them harm and can read their minds. They think that since other people can read their minds, they can control them hence leading them to do things that they do not want to do. The belief that other people can control their minds terrifies them and makes them either withdrawn or very agitated. This may lead them to engage in violent activities in a bid to protect themselves. At other times, they may not make sense in what they say and do, and most of them may appear perfect physically until they talk especially about what is on their minds.

They commonly suffer from hallucinations and can see, hear, smell and feel things that other people are unable to feel. They also suffer from thought disorders where they are unable to articulate their thoughts accurately and often seem very confused. They also suffer from social problems
