Historically, African Americans have resisted bondage and servitude and protested discrimination, exclusion, racism, inequality and oppression in various ways and on many fronts. Choose one example of Black protest that took place between Reconstruction (1865) and the present (individual protest, movements, specific protests, etc). Explain the details of the protest (What was the protest in response to? Who was involved? What form did it take (march, riot, artistic expression, speech, etc.)?) Finally, discuss the outcome and impact of the protest.
