QUESTION

How are meteoroids, meteors and meteorite related?

Please see below in explanation:

I will explain you each by which you can understand what they are.

##1.## Meteoroids - Meteoroids are similar to an asteroid, but significantly smaller. Mostly debris of comets, sometimes debris of asteroids. A meteoroid is a solid body in interplanetary space before it reaches the Earth's atmosphere. The meteoroid's range in size from small grains to 1 meter-wide objects.

##2.## Meteors - Meteors are bright tail of light caused by a meteoroid during its atmospheric flight, also called a shooting star or falling star. Most meteors result from meteoroids no more than a few centimeters in diameter. When meteors enter into the Earth's atmosphere, heated from collisions with air particles in the upper atmosphere and shedding glowing material in its wake sufficiently to create a visible streak of light.

##3.## Meteorites - The part of a meteoroid or asteroid that survives the fiery passage through the Earth's atmosphere as a meteor and strikes the Earth's surface is called a meteorite.

So, we can say that meteoroids, meteors & meteorites are the same thing but has different name for different place.
