How are mitosis and meiosis similar?
They are similar in the sense that they both serve the aim of cell division.
Similarities:
- DNA replication occurs during interphase
- The do both serve the aim of cell division
- They share several steps in their respective processes. They both go through Interphase, Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, and Telophase.
- Both produce new cells based on their parent cell's genes.
- The method through which chromosomes are pulled apart is the same.
- The process of pulling apart chromosomes must always be preceded by the dissolving of the nuclear membrane so that the chromosomes may align in the middle of the cell.
