QUESTION

How do microfilaments function in the cytoskeleton of a cell?

Microfilaments give structure to the cell to compartmentalize the cell ...like a firm matrix....kind of like the steel girders of a skyscraper.

also...microfilaments can help in movement of a cell to give it the ability to change shape such as an AMOEBA to move about and maintain it's intact. Also in cilia and flagella to slide filament and produce whipping movement to move an organism such as a Paramecium or Euglena....or the hairs in your respiratory tract.https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081125185144AAmgNKC
