QUESTION

How do protostomes differ from deuterostomes?

All animals are either protostomes or deuterostomes. When the ball of cells that is becoming the new organism during early embryonic development starts gastrulation, a hole appears, -- at the point where cell reorganisation begins. The hole is called blastopore.

The blastopore eventually becomes the mouth in protostomes.

The blastopore eventually becomes the anus in deuterostomes.
