Now that you have read about including students with disabilities and watched the videos, please add appropriate modifications to ALL PARTS of your PE Lesson Plan (Warm-Up/Fitness, Lesson Focus, Learning Activity and Closure) from Module 5 to accommodate a student with cerebral palsy who uses a walker and is unsteady without it. This student has no cognitive issues. Your modifications should ensure that this student is SAFE, SUCCESSFUL and INCLUDED in all activities or engaged in a parallel activity valuable to him/her (i.e. a zig zag obstacle course to practice wheelchair skills). Also, keep in mind the goal is not to just mimic the activity others are doing, you can modify the rules of the game/activity, the equipment used in the activity, and the set-up (or all three) to ensure modification is beneficial to the student, physically and/or socially. The link below and attachments in this module will take you to useful accommodations resources, and there are many others out there as well. On your lesson plan, please be specific and indicate how your modifications ensure our student is safe, successful and involved, and how the modifications are beneficial to him/her by labeling them in the "Modifications" column. (Refer to our example in the syllabus). Please post your completed PE Lesson Plan to the Module 6 link by the module due date.
