1- 1- Please complete the self-assessment on What's my leadership style? Upon completion of the assessment use this discussion thread to discuss your leadership style, what surprised you about your style, what you might do to improve your task-centered or people-centered skills and anything else you would like to comment on.
You will find the assessment in the Chapter 9 folder in the Content section. This one is a little tricky to score so I have attached another file that is a sample of how to score the assessment. It is important that you score this properly to determine your leadership style. Some of you did not score the F2F communication assessment properly and therefore it gave you an inaccurate result.

(In the class, I need to respond to the answers of four students from the first part. To explain it more, my classmates some of them answered the question. What you have to do is read them, then respond to it. The respond is like what you think about what he wrote. Also Like do you agree or disagree with what he wrote, what do you like about it and what you can add to his opinions and thoughts. (FYI try to be positive (like agree with him) and also be respectful)

1- For people orientation leadership my score is 8 and for task orientation leadership style my score is 9 which is only a little less than the high score. I believe I have both of the styles in me, where the people orientation style is a little more than the task orientation style. It does not surprise me as I kind of knew that I believe in both completing the tasks and also working along with people so as to complete these tasks. It is always important to give importance to both people and tasks in order to become successful.
The people oriented leader can be known as the person that focuses most on motivating people and inspiring them to have complete trust in him. They also help people know that they are capable enough for completing the task efficiently which boosts their self-confidence. They also help the employees feel better about their work and also help them define their career path and stay positive for achieving it. This kind of leadership style is also known as the emotional leadership style. The employees are very important for the organization and this leader understands this viewpoint.
On the other hand, the things I can do to improve my task oriented leadership style and help increase my score includes trying to focus on completing the assignments rather than anything else. The responsibilities of such leaders are based on the projects they do and therefore, have very quick turnaround times and hence make use of the deadline driven management. I would also start focusing on the deadlines that are to be achieved and also on the efficient project management. Being busy with these entire things, I will try to not forget taking care of the people that work for me and try to balance both of these qualities.
2- My score in task orientation leadership style is 10 and for people orientation leadership I got 9. I would like to write a few words about my leadership style. I worked with a company called SABIC in the administration. I was a supervisor in the housing maintenance department. And I had two associates who worked under me, and they had in turn 120 laborers working under them. We maintained a colony of about 1200 houses. And as a supervisor I was responsible for almost everything that took place. It was a very responsible position that was entrusted to me. And as a leader I was a very people centered leader. My leadership style revolved around my employees, their needs, expectations and abilities. This style of leadership helped me win favor with my employees. And since I gained their trust and confidence, they made sure that they carried out their responsibilities to their best and to a point where whatever job was given to them was done. But there are also times when I do use task oriented styles of leadership, when I saw that goals were not being met and when I noticed that there were a few employees getting slack at their performance. So actually there is no one particular style of leadership to be adopted but it is again very situational.
