I enjoyed reading your post this week. I think a lot of the times it comes down to if a company wants to move their items either quickly or more cost effective. The difficulty is finding a good balance. Do you think that planning and forecasting could help keep a company from getting in a situation where they must choose time over cost? I also read that the costs of air freight can be higher because it is charged by the weight of the shipment. On the other hand, ocean transportation is typically a standard price for containers. For sea transport, shipments can be either an entirely full container or a consolidated container with other shipments. If it is a consolidated shipment, it is usually priced by volume in cubic meters.
