Case: Michele is a 47 year old female who experienced an exacerbation of her COPD and needed to be intubated (had a breathing tube inserted through her mouth and throat, into her lungs) for five days. When the breathing tube was removed, it was noted that she had a very breathy voice, and was diagnosed with a paresed (semi-paralyzed) vocal fold that had reduced movement. Her left vocal fold would stay primarily in the "open" position, and would only move to midline during phonation for an extremely short period of time before returning to the open position. Thus her voice was soft and very breathy. Describe how you would expect Michele to compare to those without voice difficulties and a rationale for your explanation for each of the following measures:
