Australia is a country that has been colonized and governed by people not indigenous to the country. This research primarily focuses on the indigenous people of the country with regard to their social and economic development and the role of government information systems. According to a study by Sahu, Dwivedi & Weeakkody (2009) on the role of ICT and rural community .development, this can be effectively brought about by a combination of information technology and the prevailing knowledge that is available within the community.
