Analysis of Current State: Organizational alignment is concerned with the degree to which key aspects or components of an organization work together to optimally achieve the goals of the organization.
1. Alignment Model
Read about organizational alignment online. Review some of the organizational alignment models. (Hint: Google organizational alignment models). Appropriate, tweak or creat a model that includes the key aspects of the previous 4 milestones.
Include a graphic of the model and describe its components and how they align. Make sure that your model addresses these organizational components:
- Business Model
- Strategy
- Organizational Structure
- Role of IT
- IT Structure
- Organizational Culture
- Corporate Social Responsibility
- Digital Business
Describe key aspects of each topic in general terms (review readings) and describe how they fit in your model. For example, how do changes in one component impact other components?
Explain why each of the topics is important to an organization's "success," in general.
Give examples of how these topics have impacted organizations (review Case Studies for examples).
2. Analysis of the Current State
Now, analyze your chosen organization's alignment. To accomplish this, describe how each of the components is aligned (or misaligned) with the other components. Support your analysis with citations (URLs are fine).
The analysis step should require a good amount of research and reading on your part. I expect you to dig deep into the available information and to support your claims with evidence.
3. Speculation on the Future State
Given your analysis of the organization's current state, speculate on how digital business will impact your organization over the next five years. Discuss how well prepared you think your organization is to succeed.
