This is the time to make money. These days, product life cycles are very short and based on my knowledge, 3G technology would be replaced soon. Look at the example of the U.S. telecommunications providers who have capitalized on the opportunity and offered the 3G mobile broadband at sufficiently high prices to match demand. Now, the demand for 3G mobile broadband has gone down a bit, so the providers are offering good deals and discounts to make use of the few remaining days of the current technology. I haven't been to Thailand, but I feel that in Thailand, people living in rural areas are not so much concerned about using a computer. They value other things more than using mobiles. For instance, they would prefer to buy something like a refrigerator, or a TV rather than a 3G mobile broadband. Although I feel that providers would be successful with the launch of 3G, their success wouldn't be of the extent of the providers in the U.S. and Europe. In urban areas like Bangkok, people have access to the internet, value the use of the internet as a source of information and aid to work, people would look get 3G services to better facilitate their use of the internet. However, people in rural areas would not care much because they don't often rely on the internet for many things. Even after all these things in mind, I think that Thailand should launch 3G this year. It would be much better than the existing condition and the providers as well the economy would benefit.
