The history of both the nations citizens are more or less the same. But, the colonization histories of both the countries are very different. South America, Mexico and many other Latino countries were invaded by Spain much before the British established their colony in North America. The regions occupied by the Spain were very fertile in terms of agriculture as well as minerals. The Spaniards set up numerous mines and tortured various natives to hand over ample wealth to them. In addition to pondering the natural resources of the area, they created very distinct class oriented rule which divided the country into the rich and the poor which prevails still. On the other hand, the British people who colonized North America were not able to create such distinct differences. The Spanish people started invading the South American countries as early as 1516. Juan Diaz de Solis was the first known navigator to visit the region. He was the one to name the Rio de la Plata region the "River of Silver". However, conquering the South American areas like Buenos Aires was no easy task. The Spaniards set up numerous mines and tortured various natives.
