The reader must have noticed that so far I have been only dealing with rather old concepts - no mention has been yet made of the Big Bang, the Superstring theory in n+1 dimensions, or the possibility of creating a baby Universe in laboratory. We will have a chance to talk about some of these topics later on, but quite remarkably, the points I am trying to make in this chapter can be made using concepts known since the late 1930s. What are we to make of all this?
