In the example with the plants with pollen change that can only mate with like plants or itself and the plants with no pollen change that can only mate with like plants or itself - has a new species been produced? It seems to me that the answer is yes because the dark plant is passing down their traits but the light plants were going through pollen changes at the same time. Trying to explain it to my child who is a biology student but I teach social studies and have no clue.
