In this activity, you will sketch an image. The easiest way to share your sketch is to draw freehand and take a picture or use a scanner to capture your drawing. 

Once your sketch is saved to your computer, follow these instructions to insert the sketch directly into your discussion posting [DOCX, File Size 187 KB].  

1. Sketch a Southern Hemispheric mid-latitude cyclone, complete with isobars, cold and warm fronts, and wind barbs. (Do not worry too much about the magnitude of wind speeds.) Hint: Make sure that the warm air behind your warm front is coming from the equator and that the cold air behind your cold front is coming from the South Pole.
2. Compare and contrast this Southern Hemispheric cyclone with its Northern Hemispheric counterpart. What are similarities? What are differences?
3. Discuss how a continental Arctic (cA) type of air mass in the Southern Hemisphere will invade areas as it moves towards the equator compared to the same type of air masses in the Northern Hemisphere. Will there be changes to this air mass that are not observed in the Northern Hemisphere? Specify.
