Introduction:

Ecosystem based Management is an important approach when it comes to managing our environment. The principles of ecosystem based management helps to integrate different systems into environmental management making it a holistic approach.

Aim:

The aim of this assignment is to

·      Understand the basics of Ecosystem based management

·      To analyze conservation based on Ecosystem based management

Read:

2. Brussard, P. F., Reed, J. M., & Tracy, C. R. (1998). Ecosystem management: what is it really? Landscape and Urban Planning, 40 (1-3), 9-20.
3. Search for any ecosystem management plan and study it in depth.

Write:

You are expected to write an assignment based on the literature cited. The assignment should not just the summarize the literature but should also include your perspective based on other sources. The assignment should include the following.  

·      Summarize the Chapter and article to address the following points

o   What is ecosystem management?

o   How and why the concept of ecosystem management was developed

o   The scientific basis of ecosystem management

·      Summarize the Ecosystem management plan you have chosen

·      Compare and relate the plan you have chosen to the literature (the above two) you have read for this assignment. You should use additional literature to support your comparison.

·      Your own perspective on ecosystem based approach (support this with other literature)

Other Details:

·      The assignment should be a minimum of 800 words and a maximum of 1500 words excluding references. There will be a penalty if you exceed the maximum word limit.

·      The assignment should have different sections with titles (ex. Introduction, Conclusion)
