QUESTION

Instruction Manual

This is not a long assignment. It does require a bit of thought though.

Your toptic

  • should begin with How to:
  • should be relevant to your major
  • should be an academic topic (could be related to an organization of which you are a part) If you are an events coordinator for a campus organization, you could do How to Plan and Implement an Event for Sigma Tau Delta.

Your audience should be specific and should have less experience in the topic than you. Your audience might be a student in your major who has not yet learned the content. Your audience could be more general. For example, if you are an Exercise Science major, you might have a topic How to Begin a Weightlifting Program. The audience could be beginners - people who have never weightlifted. Your entire manual would have to be targeted to people who have never lifted.

Your role is what makes you an "expert" in the topic. It may be your major. It may be your experience in a club, organization, course or internship.

Graphics - Your manual must use graphics to help illustrate/clarify your instructions. (See examples.) You can take your own photographs. Cell phone photographs are fine. If you are showing someone how to use software or an online program, you can take screenshots. You could also take screenshots of Word or Excel, if for example, an accounting major wanted to show how to create a profit and loss statement or income statement. I will show you how. I will also show you how to use SmartArt in Microsoft Word for showing cycles or processes. You do not have to submit graphics at this time. Just let me know HOW you will acquire your graphics. YOU MAY NOT COPY AND PASTE IMAGES FROM THE WEB.

For this assignment, submit topic, role, audience, and how you will get graphics.
