People thrive on information. As a reciever of information, individuals are happier and more productive when they’ve been told exactly what is expected of them.  As a sender of information, the ability to effectively convey your thoughts to others is paramount to success.  People who don’t communicate well suffer the consequences of having work done incorrectly and having employees or co-workers who are continually frustrated. 

Communication Has Changed

Advances in technological communication hinder an individual’s ability to connect with co-workers on a personal level, and present barriers because they remove much necessary information, such as speaking cadence and tone, and body language. Keep this in mind, and develop strategies for bridging this gap. By doing so, you will ensure that your professional relationships are developed through a keen awareness of courtesy, attentive listening, and active participation.
