INSTRUCTIONS: Field Notes: To find a problem worth solving. begin your design challenge by observing people toidentify complications and confusions {big and small} that would benefit from creative solutions.Choose a location {online or off}. and settle in to do your observational research. In yourfield notes(500 words minimum. template will be provided on One, feel free to modify}. document how users(strangers. friends. famin members. etc.} engage with a product or service. You are not required toconduct interviews— but whenever possible make note of what they say. and to whom. Notice whatappears to motivate the users. what they communicate {verbally and nonverbally} about theiremotional state. their goals. needs. and desires. Record the steps they follow to complete theinteraction. start to finish. including false starts. Note especially any frictions or pain points theyappear to encounter while engaging with the productfservice — these problems for users are designopportunities for you.
