Instructions

•Pick a Major League Baseball team other than the Los Angeles Dodgers or the San Francisco Giants.  The team should run some sort of promotion throughout the season (i.e., Cap, Shirt, Bobblehead, Fireworks).

•Using the MLB data, build a model that will measure the impact of a promotion or a combination of promotions on attendance, controlling for other variables.  Feel free to get creative and create variables that you think might help.

•Assume that the unit cost of a promotion is $3.00 (i.e., a bobblehead costs $3.00); you are free to find any additional information that may assist in your decision•

•Assume you were hired by team management for the team you selected, write a 1-page maximum (double-spaced) memo that includes the following:

•Recommend a promotion strategy to management based on your analysis (i.e., based on attendance)

•Should they run the promotion? Why or why not?

•Broadly describe what you found, your approach, and assumptions

•Create at least two visuals that help relay this message (they can be pasted in the memo or in an appendix)

•Identify the strengths and deficiencies in your analysis.  What information would help you make a more informed decision?

•The written part of this assignment is purposely short.  When you get into a situation where you are presenting your findings to management, you need to have the ability to be concise and speak in layman's terms.
