Introduction to the Private Sector’s Role in Homeland Security Efforts

Various roles and responsibilities of the private sector as they relate to their membership within the homeland security enterprise will be discussed, as well as the manner in which it can aid in fulfilling components of the National Preparedness Goal.

Your assigned readings provided a great deal of information concerning the goals and objectives the Federal government has established concerning securing the homeland. To do so, various partners must work together in a coordinated manner, and as you will see, the private sector is considered a major player in this effort. 

1. Concerning the private sector, what are its primary roles and responsibilities as a member of the homeland security enterprise? Support your comments with material from the weekly readings.

2.The National Preparedness Goal is made up of five broad mission areas (prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery) that address our nation's homeland security efforts. Focus upon one of these mission areas and fully explain how the private sector can have a direct impact upon this mission area as a whole, as well as fulfilling the core capabilities associated with it.
