One of this week's reading assignments explores some of the problems posed by the inability to exchange information among criminal justice agencies in the US and the importance of information sharing and the inter-operability of communication systems.

Indeed, contemporary law enforcement requires more than just a willingness to work together.  Criminal justice organizations must devise means whereby they effectively share intelligence across multiple jurisdictions and international boundaries.

After completing this week's reading assignments, answer the following

1) Utilizing publicly available search engines, identify an example whereby lack of information sharing among criminal justice organizations may have contributed towards a negative outcome.  Discuss some factors that served as a barrier to exchanging information among relevant agencies.

2) What are some steps that could have been taken to overcome the barriers you identified in part 1?
