Jason, an unemployed

19

-

year

-

old who left school at 14,

entered into a contract with Brown

Suppliers Pty Ltd.

Brown Suppliers is not a listed public company.

The contract stated that Jason

would receive a different electrical appliance each month for the next 12 months. The goods are

supplied at retail prices but with a 30 per cent surcharge for interest and service. Jason finds out

that he is paying more for

the appliances than the normal price in the stores and also was

unaware the contract was for 12 appliances (he thought it was just one) and so he now feels the

contract is unfair.

Advise

Jason

as to any rights he may have

under the unconscionability

provisions in the Australian

Consumer Law.
