Paper #4

Passion Project

(100 points)

This quarter, we’ve been talking about fandoms and what they might consist of. For this exploratory paper, you will choose one fandom that you are part of and give a comprehensive examination of this group and how you find your identity in it. You should use some of what Wardle has to say on identity and might want to also reference the ideas on fandoms that Olin-Scheller and Sundqvist as well as Penzato examined. Using Olin-Scheller and Sundqvist’s article as a framework, this paper should be divided into sections that include: An introduction, a bit of history and explanation, ways that members engage, interact, and create within and to represent this group, how you and your identity fit in, anything else you might deem interesting or worth delving into, and a conclusion. The paper does not have to have its sections in the exact order above, but the organization of the paper should be obvious.

Think about this paper as a way to showcase what you know about a subject and highlight some interesting aspects that others who are not in this community of practice might not know.
