M3A1 English
This is your first project in the course. Consider it an opportunity to explore vampire-related literary work not required within the course itself and to bring your own perspective to the ongoing discussion.
For this activity, you will be writing a review of a story, novel, poem, graphic novel, or other type of creative, literary work related to vampires. You MUST use some form of literature, and may not use a movie or television show for this assignment.
Select and read any other vampire-related creative work. This may be a novel, a graphic novel, or even a poem. Examples of vampire-related work include The Historian, True Blood, My Baby Sitter is a Vampire, Dark Shadows, and others. Prior to writing your review, be sure to let the instructor know what you've chosen via the in-course messaging system, so that the instructor can confirm that your choice of literary work is acceptable.
Papers should be between 500 and 1000 words in length.
All papers must be in proper APA format. Papers that include references must be properly cited per the APA style guide.

A good review must, at the very least, include a brief summary of the plot, and your clear, documented evaluation of the work. The use of external sources to validate your position is encouraged. You should specifically discuss how the relationships between humans and vampires are portrayed, and you may focus more tightly on a particular type of relationship, such as the one between vampires and women or vampires and vampire hunters. The choice of the focus of your review is up to you!
Project 1 is valued as 20% of your overall course grade. This assignment will be graded using the SLA Writing Rubric. Please review the rubric carefully so you understand how you will be graded. Click on View Rubric above.
