MATH ASSIGNMENT FOR MATH GURU

The problem you must solve is:

Jose has a fish tank that measures 11.8 inches wide, 19.7 inches long, and 15.7 inches deep. He empties it halfway to clean it. To refill it when he is done, he will fill a one-gallon jug in the sink and carry it to the tank, pour it in, and then return to the sink again.

1. Convert the dimensions of the tank to centimeters. Round all measurements to the nearest whole centimeter.
2. How many liters does Jose need to add to the tank to fill it? How many gallons of water is this? (Reminder: 1 liter = 1000 cubic centimeters)
3. How many times will Jose need to carry the jug from the sink to the tank?

You may use ideas from the discussion board, but you are expected to write your solution using your own words to explain your reasoning. The report should be no more than 3 pages.

2. Answer all parts of the problem.
3. Write your solution in your own words. Show your justification for every step in your solution, using clear, mathematically accurate language. You can use phrases to explain your reasoning from step to step, but clearly state your final conclusions using complete English sentences (for example, “Jill needs to add 43 gallons of water to her pool”).
4. Label all numbers with the units they represent (e.g., 0.3048 ft/meter).
5. Type your write-up in MS Word and try to use the Equation Editor so that your equations are clear.
   1. The video How to use Equation Editor in Microsoft Office is a good tutorial. For this course, it is sufficient to watch segments 0:00-5:00 and 9:50-12:00. To cancel units, you can use the MS Word strikethrough feature (circled in blue below). Select what you want to cross out, and then click the strikethrough.Example:
   2. This level of typesetting is also acceptable:(28 yards) x 0.9144 meters/ 1 yards = 25.6 meters
   3. If you cannot type your equations, you may hand-write the mathematics in dark ink, scan your paper, check for legibility then upload your work.
