QUESTION

MEEN 621-HW#2-Due Date: Teuseday October 3-2017 Problem 1. Control volume analysis of the laminar pipe flow:

Consider a steady flow of water (constant density fluid) in a round horizontal pipe of inner radius R attached to a large reservoir. At the pipe inlet (section A), the flow is uniform (uniform velocity profile are also known as plug flow)

And some distance down stream at section B, we have a fully developed ID and steady laminar pipe flow profile (known as parabolic profile) which is a function of r but not of z

Now given the speed of the uniform flow at the inlet V, the pipe inner radius R, the density and the viscosity of the water and the pressure drop between the inlet and exit find Vmax and the viscous force exerted by the flow on the pipe wall F.
