Module 4 Reading Assignment
• Check out the module 4 videos.
• Read the last two chapters book two of MC, “The Perfect Penitent,” and “The
Practical Conclusion.”
Module Tasks
Respond to the following questions in ~150 words per question:
1. The problem of evil (theodicy) is a major point of contention for theism.
Explain which of the four responses offered in the lecture best responds to the
problem.
2. Is the Tetralemma (Lunatic, Liar, Lord, Legend?) convincing? Do any
aspects of it require further development? Are other objections not
considered?
3. In the previous module, we explored how Lewis challenges a number of
atheistic claims and objections to theism; recall that this isn’t an abstract
topic for Lewis, but one he had grappled with personally for many years. In
whatever room you have left for discussion, pick an argument for theism you
did not discuss in the previous module. Briefly sum up the argument and
offer your take on its strengths and weaknesses.
Respond to the postings of at least two other students. Responses should be ~50
words.
