MSA plate is the 156613627_13533 jpg, the blood agar is the other two jpg.

Please answer the correct answers to these question based from the attachment I give you.

  1. How many different types of colonies can you detect on each plate? Make a list and describe the morphology of each one on each plate. In the confluent areas do your best to describe the bulk properties. Remember when describing colony morphology you should report the following for each colony:
    • pigment
    • texture
    • growth pattern
    • opacity
    • size
    • odor (do not smell these organisms, you will not find anything pleasant and you will want to keep your distance from an potential opportunistic pathogens)
  2. For each colony (or confluent area); what biochemical abilities can you detect based on its growth and appearance?
    • For the MSA plate describe whether each unique colony can tolerate the salt and ferment mannitol.
    • For the Blood agar plate describe all the types of hemolysis that you can detect and Staphylococcus or Streptococcus presence based on colony size and opacity.
  3. Which of your colonies were catalase positive and was the blood agar plate itself catalase positive?
  4. Does your plate have any contamination? If so, justify why you think it is contamination.
  5. Does your MSA plate contain Staphylococcus aureus? If yes or no, state how you know?
  6. Hypothetical: Assume you found S. aureus on your MSA plate, does that mean that that person is sick or soon will be sick with a disease caused by S. aureus? You will need to do some outside research for this. I recommend the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
  7. Hypothetical: Assume you found alpha hemolysis on your blood agar plate, does that mean that that person is sick or soon will be sick with a disease such as pneumonia caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae? You will need to do some outside research for this. I recommend the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
