The emotional response the song elicited from me was sadness since this was the mood of the song. The song was not pleasing to me due to its slow paced nature, use of few musical instruments and being a solo performance. There was nothing specific I liked about it since it was generally a dull performance.
The jazz style incorporated is instrumental jazz. The instruments used are piano and upright bass (Bill 23). It was a duo performance with the piano playing the role of ride pattern throughout the song. This was a group performance comprising of the pianist, who was the most dominant and the upright bass player who was playing the assisting role. The main attention was on the pianist, since he is the one who was leading the music. The melody was evenly paced for the piano while the upright bass performance was low and slow kind of soothing. The pianist would constantly increase and decrease the tempo. The duo performance was successful since the instruments were well played. The emotional response it elicited was a somber mood.
