Cigarette smoking is one of the major causes of lung diseases in the society today. Health statistics indicate that the largest percentage of lung diseases such as cancer in many countries is caused by Tobacco smoking. The Cancer Research UK (2013) shows that over 86% of the lung cancer deaths in the UK result from tobacco smoking in the public. Also, tobacco is known for causing pancreas, stomach kidney and aero-digestive tract cancers. These figures show that the cigarette smoking claims the largest percent of lung cancer deaths in this country. The implication of this is that the only way to reduce lung cancer is to launch a strategic war against tobacco smoking in the society. If the government reduces the number of smokers in the country, it would save the lives of not only the smokers but also those close to the smokers (Rao, Aslam, Zaheer & Shafique, 2014). This is the reason why the government in many countries has launched many awareness campaigns to discourage cigarette smoking among the youths who are the most affected in the society. In brief, tobacco smoking is an unhealthy habit that leads to high death rates in most countries.

The youths are the majority of smokers in many countries in the world. This can be associated with the increasing attention to leisure in the world and the consequent peer pressure within the society. Statistics by the Cancer Research UK (2013) shows that majority of smokers lie within the age of 20 and 24 years. In 2011, 13% of the youths between the age of 20 and 24 years were smoking. In each day, at least five youth were smoking for the first time in UK, and mong these were being introduced by their peers. This statistics shows that the youths are the majority of the people affected with this behaviour. This means that the war against youth smoking has not succeeded and that more youths are bound to join in
