Null hypothesis: There is no correlation between the area of residence of a STEMI patient and the degree of myocardial damage of the patient
Alternative analysis: There is a correlation between the area of residence of a STEMI patient and the degree of myocardial damage of the patient.
Research design: Observation, carrying out experiments, interviewing, reading secondary material.
Observational research: Through observations in our research, we found out that there were more patients suffering from myocardial damage in rural areas than in urban areas. We noted that most patients reside a distance of 10 minutes or more from Forster Regional Medical Centre. We also found out that fibrinolytics was the major cause of this (Merriam, 1998).
Other research results: Through our research even from journals, we found out that some more past researchers observed the same thing (Lo, & Field, 2009). We interviewed some people from the rural areas and urban areas so as to approximate the percentage of STEMI patients suffering from myocardial damage and the statistics were that there was a higher percentage in rural areas (Pope, Ziebland, & Mays, 2000).
Sampling procedure: During our research we had to sample because we could not work with the whole population. We took three random samples of one hundred people in rural areas and three random samples of one hundred people in urban areas.
Recommendation: Our recommendation is that pre-hospital administration of fibrinolytics under physician control can lead to better results in rural areas.
