Need help with my writing homework on Research paper: Applying sociological theory and research. Write a 1000 word paper answering; For instance, studies show that 27% of Americans have suffered bullying at work places and another about 21% has witnessed it (Namie, 2014, p.1). This implies that prevalence of bullying cases is significantly high even among adults. Therefore, since bullying covers the entire society regardless of gender or age, it is necessary to address issues surrounding it and its effects to the society in a bid to reduce its prevalence.

Bullying acts range from physical assault to verbal aggravations. In most cases bullying is advanced in the lines gender, race and or ethnical groups among others. However, bullies in most cases target any form of a perceived weakness in the victims of bullying. This is to say that bullying can be based on significantly many aspects that according to the bully are perceived weaknesses such as social class. Individuals who repeatedly commit acts of bullying have a tendency of living a lie in a bid to cover up actions bullying committed to the victims. On the other hand, there is a tendency of silence by victims of bullying especially among the young people. For instance, there are significantly few instances of bullying reported in schools yet there studies show that bullying in schools is reaching alarmingly high levels. For instance, a survey showed that 29.1 % of the total students were involved in bullying activities either as bullies or as victims (Nansel, Overpeck, Pilla, Ruan, Simmons-Morton, & Scheidt, 2001). A combination of such statistics and those in working places show that bullying has taken a large chunk in the society.

Silence of bullied victims can be attributed to the fact that bullies have a tendency of intimidating their victims and creating the perception that their victims deserve being bullied. Furthermore there is quite a large number of people who have been bullied yet they are not aware of it.
