Now that we have learned about the Scientific Method, you will design a simple experiment.
Now that we have learned about the Scientific Method, you will design a simple experiment. The experiment must be based on the Scientific Method, and the data generated should be quantitative (based on numbers). The experiment does not have to be time consuming, complex or expensive. I have given some basic ideas below. You can put your own spin on one of these, or come up with your own.
Designing Your Experiment
Choose a question/problem you are interested in, come up with a testable hypothesis, and design a simple experiment to help answer this question. In your design, address the following:
- What do you want to study, and why? (10 points)
- What is your hypothesis? (5 points)
- How would you set up your experiment? Give details on the methods you would plan to follow, and the materials you would require to conduct your experiment. Be as thorough as you can. (15 points)
- Identify the following
- Independent variable - what variable are you manipulating (5 points)
- Dependent variables - what are you measuring; what is changing in response to changes in the independent variable (5 points)
- Controlled variables - what are those variables you are keeping constant (5 points)
- Control group (5 points)
- Experimental group (5 points)
- What type of data will you be collecting? How will you measure and present your results? (15 points)
PLEASE COME UP WITH AN EXPERIMENT .WHAT KIND OF EXPERIMENT CAN I DO? without it taking a long period of time no more than a couple of days to a week and doing it in the comfort of my home!
