Complexity Science theory provides the concepts and principles for understanding complex adaptive systems (CAS). The micro-meso-macro system is part of CAS. The model for improvement is often used in quality improvement projects.

This discussion board has two parts.

QUESTION 1. With interdisciplinary colleagues, select a gap in healthcare quality within the system of care. Using the 5 P's of the clinical microsystem, outline the first steps and next steps to bridge the gap. Consider the meso- and macrosystems as well.

QUESTION 2. Discuss safety and quality improvement relative to the systems.
