Purpose: This assignment asks students to synthesize all the reading, research, writing and analytical skills they have used in the class up to this point to develop a topic into an original paper. Students should follow standard formats for paper appearance, including MLA citation methods, and sentences should be mostly free from error.Readings:Wm. Shakespeare     OthelloAdditional research to be determined by the student, but should be three or more “scholarly” sources.Topic:In this assignment, you will demonstrate your analytical writing abilities by reading/interpreting a Shakespeare play and researching a topic drawn from that play. Your paper will use at least three scholarly articles as support. Regardless, you will need to use extensive quotation, paraphrase and summary from the text to support your interpretation. Possible topics: Marriage in Othello/ Male bonding in Othello/ Othello and Race, etc. Additional topics must be approved by instructor.This paper should be at least 7 pages in length, with standard MLA formatting and a complete Works Cited Page. Must have clear, argumentative thesis. Double spaced, typed, 1 inch margins, well- formed and well-developed paragraphs. Extensive support from the text of poem. Clearly defined intro, body and conclusion. Sentence mostly free of error. A works cited list with MLA style citation (for play, the cite method is -> ACT.SCENE.LINE)Also write  an Annotated Bilbliography (3 sources )
