Over the last three weeks, students have learned about the many aspects of an annotated bibliography. Students have even written their abstracts to be used as an introduction to their annotated bibliographies. Usually, at this point, what is causing students the most angst is the actual construction of the Annotated Bibliography. Let us see if we can dispel some of the mystery by practicing. The best part about this assignment is that you can use your work on Unit 2: Annotated Bibliography.

Step 1: Find three sources you will be using for your Unit 3 Project: Research Argument Essay. This doesn't mean find any three sources kinda related to your topic. It means to begin researching your topic for the Unit 3 Project. As you are researching, find three sources that support your argument.

Step 2: For each of the three sources found, write out the appropriate citation using either a citation generator (work smarter not harder but still check the work), the OWL@purdue, or another source that provides the correct citation format. When you have finished, you should have a list of three citations, much like what is found on a Works Cite page.

Step 3: Under each citation, answer the following 3 questions. Each answer should be at least three sentences. Don't rush this.

  • What is this source about?
  • How might I use this source in the Argument Research Essay?
  • How do I know this source is credible? Be specific.

Step 4: When you have finished, write Annotated Bibliography in the title position and center it. Using the most recent MLA standards, format the entries as seen in the following video -except for the Hanging Indent. Yes, we want Hanging Indents, but this video shows you the hard way. Watch the second video for a much easier way to apply Hanging Indents. How to Create an Annotated Bibliography - YouTubeEasier Hanging Indents video- Creating a Hanging Indent in Microsoft Word 2016 - YouTubeStep 5: Submit the three annotated sources for this assignment to be marked for use on the Unit 2: Annotated Bibliography.
