Part of you grade this semester will include a book report regarding the state of things in society. Several books have been written throughout our history that discuss political/sociological world views. These books have unique twists in how they represent sociological themes. 

Here are the books you can choose from: (I don't care if you read the book or listen to it on audio, either way is fine)

1984 (Orwell)

Lord of the Flies (William Golding)

Animal Farm (Geroge Orwell)

*You can rent these books from the IvyTech Library, local libraries, listen through audible/kindle, etc.

The book report itself should be at least 4 pages typed, double-spaced, standard 12 pt font.

It does not have to be in APA or MLA format.

I'd like for it to read smoothly while you answer the questions below. Please make sure you discuss each of the questions below. (if you answer each question with a college paragraph-9/10 sentences minimum) you should have more than 3 pages.

Please identify the following in this report:

• Identify 2-3 themes from the book you choose and link those together to current trends you are seeing in contemporary American Society.
• Discuss how  personal responsibility, accountability for our own success are addressed in these books. Identify ways that entitlement, victimization, collectivism and big government are also used in the book you choose.
• Can you identify how the working classes look different than the proletariat classes in your book, what behaviors do each have in your book?
• How would you describe the society in your book?
• What role does education/knowledge vs ignorance/lack of education play in your book?
• Describe the rebellion that occurs in your book.  How did you know it was a rebellion? What caused the rebellion?
• Identify who is in control in your book,. Identify why those in control needed the control? What were they afraid of?
• How do rules/order affect your book's overall message?
