What's the Foundation of a Good Business?

As you read this Topic header, I wonder what came to mind? My hope is that you said, "People.' Even if you were just talking out loud to your dog or cat! Well, you've seen the subject for this week: Business Savvy Leader-Manager: Running a Business, Managing an Organization and Leading an Enterprise. 

Can we do any of this without good people? I might be out on a ledge, but I think not.

So, ponder this and provide input: What are you experiences relative to best practices for hiring? Process? Questions? Who does the interviewing? Over what time frame? Do you utilize online profiling software? What do you do that works? What have you let go by the wayside? How does your organization 'show' that their process works?
