When the shutters are opened, the altarpiece consists of two rows which are amazingly rich in color, the story is called "Adoration of The Mystic Lamb" or we could say that it is the Redemption of Man. In the central of God the Father, he is wearing like a King in deep red color with the papal crown on his head and holding a scepter in his hand, and there is also a crown on his feet to explicate that he is a King of King which is brilliant color and also incredibly delicate details. As we can see by his hand and his face, God is here to redeem mankind and to forgive. There are St. John Baptist on his right panel and Mary on his left panel with a beautiful crown which consists of Roses and lilies. Moreover, angels, who wear the different crown and have the different reaction of their facial, are singing and playing music in heaven. Especially Adam and Eve, the color of their skin are so different and it pops in our eyes because of their color contrast to others, and they seem unusually vulnerable because of their sins. In the lower panels, there are four groups of people coming toward a scene at the center which is a lamb has a bleeding wound into a chalice. The lamb is a symbol of Christ's sacrifice and this is the most crucial scene in this painting. The angels are also singing around the lamb and the color is so bright. As can be seen, Jan van Eyck paid an enormous amount of attention to the details of unimportant objects, the reflecting of the lights, and transforming the material.
